GOOD LUCK TO KATE AND KIRI AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.
FSC of Bloomington members Kiri Baga and Kate Charbonneau are each getting their second opportunity at Nationals again this year! Kate Charbonneau is competing in the Senior Ladies events on January 11-17th at the 2010 BMO Canadian Figure Skating Championships. Kiri Baga competes at the Junior Ladies events at the US Figure Skating Nationals January 14-24th.
The road to these national completions has been an adventure for both skaters. They both have earned their place in these competitions with hard work and dedication which ultimately led to their many successes.>
Last January, Kate won the 2009 Junior Canadian Championship title. This earned her invitations to compete internally for Skate Canada at 2 Junior Grand Prix events. Kate received 8th at the first and 2nd at the second.
The next step in her path was to compete in Canadian regional and sectional competitions. In December, Kate had great success and won the silver medal in the Senior Ladies event at the 2010 BMO Skate Canada Western and Eastern Challenge. Her next stop is to London, Ontario in January to compete at the Canadian Nationals. In 2009, Kate moved from competing at the Junior to the Senior level.
Kiri is also not a newcomer to national competitions. Kiri, competing for the United States, won the Novice Ladies US Figure Skating Championship title in January 2009. Kiri was selected to compete in the Junior Grand Prix series and had 2 amazing competitions in Germany and Turkey, where she took 1st place in both events. This led to an invitation to compete at the Junior Grand Prix final in Tokyo, Japan in December, earning 7th place.
Kiri, Kate and coach Lori Charbonneau have been experiencing much media attention from articles in the Star Tribune to a segment featuring Kiri on WCCO and KARE11. If you have not seen the segments, the links are below. Click on the box on the right of the screen to play the video.
The Figure Skating Club of Bloomington is proud to be the home club of these two national champions as well as many other highly competitive and successful skaters.
